DRAW ME A STORY:  The Art of Children’s Book Illustration

We can all remember our favorite children’s picture book, and how the colorful illustrations brought the story to life.  During the month of November, Kennedy Gallery is pleased to exhibit the original artwork of several of the areas most noted Children’s  Book Illustrators:  JoAnn Adinolfi, Tess Feltes, Ryan Higgins, David McPhail, Gina Perry, Robert Squier, and Teri Weidner.

Successful illustrations not only graphically represent the words of a story, they enhance them, often including hints of events to come,  visual surprises,  and unwritten details.  They inspire our imaginations,  emphasize a character’s personality, and create a fantasy environment to engage the reader even further.  The flow of the illustrations, the page turns and revelations beyond them, are all part of the illustrator’s creative efforts to make the reader wonder “What happens next?”.   And to turn the page….

Please join us for an Opening Reception on Friday, November 3, from 5-8 pm to meet these talented illustrators and view their work.  In partnership with Kennedy Gallery, G. Williker’s will have books available for purchase.
