Imagined Places, Intimate Spaces

Throughout the months of January and February, Kennedy Gallery and Custom Framing showcases new oil paintings by Christopher Volpe

The show, titled “Imagined Places, Intimate Spaces,” includes large and small-scale seascapes, sky-scapes, and marshes rendered in an evocative contemporary style. It opens in conjunction with Art Around Town, Portsmouth’s monthly gallery walk, on Friday, Jan. 6, with a reception for the artist from 5-8 p.m.

With a graduate degree in poetry, Christopher taught college English and art history for several years before embracing American landscape painting and becoming a painter. He paints both plein air (on location) and in the studio, often completing a series of studies on site that form the basis for more imaginative, larger paintings in the studio.

More information about the show may be found at the Featured Monthly Show page.
