Anne Scheer paints Maine and New England life in oil and acrylic. Her beach front studio on Gerrish Island insures she visits the shore each day. Scheer’s latest work combines the abstraction of a monoprint substrate with realistically rendered flotsam and sea life in a nearscape interpretation of the fluid activity of Maine’s intertidal zones. She has painted graphic landscapes, figures and still lifes of Maine in the style of a colorist with an eye for composition. She favors wood or paper as a surface and opaque media over transparent.

She received her undergraduate degree with an emphasis in oil painting and printmaking from the University of Wisconsin and a MFA from Boston University. Scheer has worked as an art director, creative director and was a partner in a design partnership in Boston for many years before devoting her time fully to painting.

Anne has exhibited work throughout New England. She has shown at the Cancer Center of Massachusetts General Hospital, the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire, and been chosen to exhibit in several regional juried shows. In 2016, Scheer was granted an artists residency at Hewnoaks Artist Colony in Lovell, Maine.
