Seas The Day : The Oil Paintings of Catherine Raynes

Throughout the month of July, Kennedy Gallery will present “Seas the Day”, original oil paintings by local artist Catherine Raynes.  Being the daughter of a world-renowned naval architect and growing up in a seaside community, much of Catherine’s artistic inspiration is shaped by the environments she was raised in.  The narrative of the sea and the rich, varied landscape that personify New England are pervasive in her work.  She renders her subjects with a bright, bold palette and clean, strong lines, aiming for graphic simplicity of shape, shadow, texture and light.  Catherine’s current body of work in Seas the Day continues her exploration of icons that personify the sea with dramatic representations of buoys and gulls.

Catherine has been featured on New Hampshire’s Chronicle and Windows to the Wild.  She has been published nationally and internationally and has had her work widely exhibited, including in the New Hampshire State House, New York and abroad.  She has also been juried into the prestigious Hudson Valley Art Association Exhibition.

Please join us for an Opening Reception to meet Catherine and view her  work on Friday, July 7, from 5-8 pm in conjunction with the monthly Art Round Town Gallery Walk.
